Born in 1942. Professor at Toyo University. B.A., Toyo University, and M.A., Tokyo Education University. Co-editor of Nihon no Shakaigaku 19 Shûkyô, co-editor of Shinshûkyô jiten, and co-author of Kindaika to shûkyô bûmu [Modernization and religious boom], 1990.
