I live in Sagamihara.
This is the shrine called "Hikawa Jinja". It is near my house and I have known it since I was small.
"HIKAWA JINJA"



The Enshrined Deity of Hikawa Jinja
Hikawa Jinja has also been worshiped as the god of marriage from ancient times.
This is the enshrined deity.
The enshrined deity of Hikawa Jinja is the Sun Goddess's younger brother Susanoo no Mikoto.
Susanoo no Mikoto descended to the ground in Izumo from the Plain of Takamagahara at a certain time.
Then, he met with Asahinazuchi no Mikoto and Tenazuchi no Mikoto, who were crying.
Susano no Mikoto heard the talk from the two persons and eradicated the dragon Yamata no Orochi, in order to protect the couple's daughter Kushinadahime no Mikoto from the dragon Yamata no Orochi.
Taking advantage of this, Susano no Mikoto and Kushinadahime got married.
Susano no Mikoto and Kushinadahime no Mikoto overcame distress together, got married, and became husband and wife kami.
Moreover, Ashinazuchi no Mikoto and the Tenazuchi no Mikoto, who are parents of Kushinadahime no Mikoto have names showing the heart which strokes a leg and a hand from the first, and sympathizes with a child.
Therefore, he is also kami of an easy childbirth, child rearing, and household harmony.
