Shinto

By Masahiro Kojima

Shinto is an ethnic religion that is based on nature and ancestor worship. There is no founder, and no fixed doctrine, either. In Shinto, there is an idea that deities or kami dwell in everything. As a result, the spirit of forbearance has arisen, and Japan has made a unique culture that even flexibly accepts foreign things. Moreover, the spirit of Shinto that values life and nature is very important in our contemporary society that is confronting environmental problems.
